This Week in Tech India (TWITI) #42 of 2025

Happy Diwali 🪔

I want to take this opportunity to do two things:

  • Announce that I’m taking a two-week break to spend the Diwali holidays (yes I work in corporate but I’ve taken leave – you should too! Don’t let people like Narayan Murthy make you feel that you don’t deserve to take a break) to spend time with family and friends. I will still make the TWITI posts on the website and will be active on Threads, but I won’t be making videos during these two weeks.
  • I want to once again thank each and everyone of you that has supported me for almost a year – a solo content creator that has no budget and still holding a full time job. All I started with was an idea and drive to be the ‘most honest tech blog in India’ and you have brought me here and will take me further too. Most of you I haven’t met, but it feels like you’re part of my family and I owe a lot to each of you – who gave me your time by watching my reels, shorts, reading my posts, or interacting with me on social media. I’m taking this break to also look back and strategize to do more of what you like and want, as long as it matches what I have to offer.

And if you haven’t subscribed to my YouTube channel yet, please do so!

Now, I won’t leave you for more than a week without giving this week’s tech news roundup:

  • Opteimus facility for tempered glass has been inaugurated in Noida by Ashwini Vaishnaw.
  • Ericsson commits to manufacture all telecom equipment sold in india domestically.
  • 30 Japanese companies are setting up their plants in Gujarat to support the four major semiconductor plants: according to Ashwini Vaishnaw 🇯🇵🇮🇳
  • Flipkart truck looted in Ludhiana.
  • Uber launching intercity motor homes in more big cities.
  • IT minister uses maapl – the local alternative to Google Maps (not by Zoho).
  • FoxConn to invest 15,000 crore and create 14,000 new jobs in Tamil Nadu, putting to rest speculation that FoxConn is pulling out of Tamil Nadu.
  • Google announced plans for the first-ever ‘Google AI Hub’ in Visakhapatnam. According to Google, “this hub combines gigawatt-scale compute capacity, a new international subsea gateway, and large-scale energy infrastructure. Through it we will bring our industry-leading technology to enterprises and users in India, accelerating AI innovation and driving growth across the country. Seems Adani will partner with Google.”
  • 12 lakh employee government emails move from gmail to Zoho mail.
  • Delhi Government to launch cooperative cab services.
  • India’s Omega Seiki Mobility has launched what it claims is the world’s first commercially available autonomous electric auto rickshaw, called Swayamgati, priced around ₹4 lakh. Take that, Tesla!
  • China files WTO complaint on Indian EV subsidies that honestly no one cares about.
  • Deepika Padujone becomes latest voice of Meta AI.
  • Ola enters energy storage with launch of Ola Shakti. Sadly, more recently an Ola employee took their own life leaving a 28-page suicide note alleging bullying at the workplace. Bhavish Aggarwal is booked.
  • Rapido to offer flight, train and hotel bookings, trying to become an all-in-one travel app.
  • Swiggy to shut Pyng, one of its apps, that was a marketplace of professional services.
  • Zepto to cuts jobs despite receiving more funding.
  • Jio crosses 50 crore subscriber mark.
  • Domestic services marketplace Snabbit shifts office from Mumbai to Bangalore.
  • UIDAI launches SITAA app.
  • Meesho gets IPO approval.

I’m disturbed by the Ola employee taking their own life. If you know a friend in need of help, reach out for professional help immediately or call a suicide hotline such as Asraa. Let us remove the stigma around suicidal tendencies and mental health altogether.
