Pretty quiet week in comparison, but the first piece of news does carry impact for a lot of people and may have affected someone you know.

Here’s this week’s roundup:

- Indian phone maker Lava launches the Bold series of smartphones that start as low as ₹5,999/- for the Bold N1 that’s at 4 GB RAM and 64GB storage. You’ll notice that I don’t include phone-launch related news in my weekly roundups unless they’re from India companies, comment below or contact me if you think I should.
- French consumer electronics brand Alcatel has made its return in the Indian mobile phone market via a partnership with Nxtcell India and launches three new phones.
- Microsoft CEO finally breaks silence on the massive layoffs that are happening, saying that the layoffs are due to reorganisation rather than performance. Btw, Microsoft Russia plans to file for bankruptcy.

Until now, Google devices were sold in the country only through third-party retailers such as Flipkart, Amazon, Croma and Reliance Digital.

If you have a friend working at Wipro or Microsoft, make sure to check in on them.
