I’m back! Had a great break for Diwali and some more, a month geez! Hope you had a blast too.
Now I’m back all refreshed and all – ready to do more focussed content on what you need to know to stay informed about tech in India.
My favorite part about being away and back is that I didn’t lose one follower or subscriber on by Instagram or YouTube channels. How cool! I love you guys.
Okay enough senti talk. Here’s the most important of what happened this week in Tech India.

- Figma is going to open a huge office in Bangalore and is going to hire Indians. It’s betting big on India. Figma, design bros will tell you, is the biggest deal in the software design industry and this is a big deal in the design world.
- Lenskart’s IPO is oversubscribed, as expected. Groww’s also. That’s the latest in big Tech India IPO for this year. Btw Inc42 makes this really nice new age Tech IPO Tracker for the interested.
- Physics Wallah got fully subscribed in its IPO. Btw, the next big tech IPO might be Capillary Technologies or Pine Labs. Btw, I maintain that being listed or not is not an indication of whether a company is good or successful – it’s just a form of ownership and in many ways a form of raising money.
- 18 months of Gemini Pro is being offered free for certain Jio users. This is like Perplexity Pro being offered free to Airtel users. But this one has more tools, see the image below. Veo and Nano Banana itself are wild. Where’s the catch?
- Jio, Airtel and Vodafone India are likely to increase rates starting 1st December 2025. There’s the catch.

- Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has proposed naming Hyderabad’s key roads after leading global corporations like Google, Meta, and Infosys. I don’t know how I feel about this, but anyway.
- India has become the world’s sixth largest patent filer, recording more than 64,000 patent applications in 2023, according Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh. If this is true this is very cool, it shows that we are owning our knowledge. Btw do you know how many patents are owned by TCS and Cognizant? Zero. Losers.
- Reliance Industries will setup a 1 GW AI Data Centre in Andhra Pradesh. No, the earlier announcement was for Gujarat. Reliance is spending a lot of money on AI Data Centers. This is cool actually.
- FES Cafe, which claims to be India’s first 100% eggless dessert-led cafe chain, has raised ~$1 million in a pre-series A fundingf round led by 12 Flags, a global consumer fund founded by Rakesh Kapoor, former Global CEO of Reckitt Benckiser. This is to accelerate expansion in Delhi NCR. This is not exactly tech news but I think it’s cute, an eggless desert cafe raising funding like this! Ok.
- Swiggy Ltd on Friday said its board has approved a plan to raise up to Rs 10,000 crore through a qualified institutional placement (QIP). What does Swiggy do with all this funding? Create more apps and then shut some of them down?
- Junio Payments Pvt Ltd (JPPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of FirstPay Technologies, has received in-principle authorisation from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to issue Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPIs).
- LG Electronics is planning to shift a portion of its capital goods production to India from Korea, China, and Vietnam, as part of its broader strategy to strengthen India’s role in its global manufacturing network, according to an ET report.
- Social gaming platform Zupee has acquired Nucanon, a Sydney-based AI startup, to build a new interactive storytelling vertical as part of its broader pivot beyond real-money gaming. Same company was crying when the real money game ban took effect.
That’s it for now, see you next week! Boy, it’s good to be back.

[…] Google launches Google AI Plus plan in IndiaGoogle has introduced its Google AI Plus subscription plan specifically for the Indian market. This premium service offers enhanced AI features and capabilities for users. The launch shows Google’s push to bringing advanced AI tools to Indian consumers. The latest in a series of similar offers by other AI companies – including Google themselves earlier (remember Jio offered 18 months of Gemini Pro free? See TWITI #46 of 2025). […]
