Not fast enough, is what a lot of people are still saying.

The last few weeks in Tech India has been a blur – from the first fully made in India chip, to the adoption of Zoho’s products to replace those from Microsoft and Meta. Sanctioning new chip development projects; talking about tax breaks for data centre developers; joint ventures and investments from foreign firms.

There is a bit of imposter syndrome in the Indian Public’s psyche unfortunately. We have been sadly ingrained over decades to think that “The West” will always be a step ahead. And now “The West” and “The Far East” i.e. China, Japan and South Korea will always be a step ahead in tech.
Let’s break out of that. We deserve our own good things, and we must celebrate when they are here.
No one says things like “the pace of development in Dubai is crazy” anymore, or that “China is building too fast”.
Let’s not say “India is going too fast or too far with its Swadeshi ideology in tech”.
It’s going fast enough, and it’s a beautiful thing.
By the end of this year, hopefully more chip fab plants are operational, we have our own LLM and we have Indian Chat GPT.
