This will be quick.
Bit of AI related news: Open AI just launched “Chat GPT Go” subscription plan exclusively in India, for a fee of ₹399/- per month.
This is not long after Perplexity Pro became available for free for Airtel users (normally costs around ₹17,000/- per year).
This is also not long after Gemini, which usually is around ₹1,950/- per month, became free for students.

This is not surprising for anyone who is following tech or business or internet. India is a very large user base. Open AI themselves say they India as their most promising market.
Everyone wants a piece of the Indian AI.
The trivial question is do we call India AI IndAI or AIndia.
The most important question is – is all this a trap? To get us all hooked on AI and raise the prices later?
I remember when I was in college, Red Bull – which was far more expensive than most other drinks – used to employ girls to give out tons of free Red Bull cans in each college festival.
Red Bull is an acquired taste, and they simply wanted us to acquire the taste. And I know many people who till today have not “de-acquired” that taste.
So does Perplexity or Open AI or Google simply want us to “acquire the taste” for AI, and make it so mainstream for the short term that it becomes a necessity that we will pay for in the long term?
Thoughts.
